Acorns and Leaves was inspired by the Blue Jays in my backyard. The Blue Jays are harvesting acorns and hiding them for the winter. In this painting I used Daniel Smith colors and details on the acorns and leaves. The background was done last giving the acorns and branch a shadow finally splashing on a loose background.
California artist, Hilda Vandergriff, learned to draw and paint from art teachers at College of The Sequoias, has taken many workshops on the Central Coast and at The Door Gallery.
